Americans Try To Place European Countries On A Map
I wonder how many Europeans would be able to label the 50 states. I once had to explain to a friend from England that taking the train up to NYC was not going to work out, given he was coming to the Georgia/Florida area and was only planning for it to take one day.
They have a set of maps where Europeans have done just that. And, yeah, they aren’t great :-/
When I was 17 I was bored in class and decided to name all the US states that I could. My friend and I tapped out at about 15.
So that night I went home, found a list of them and proceeded to learn them all. And once is done that, I learnt all their capitals.
That was was 15 years ago and I still know them all. But then i’m not all that normal :-)
I’d love to know why Americans think Europeans not being able to pick out US states = Americans not being able to locate entire countries. Throw a bunch of Americans at a map of UK counties, check how they do finding Hertfordshire, and then we’ll talk. Why should a European give a fuck where Idaho is? I don’t expect someone from Poland to know where Nova Scotia is just because I can find Poland on a map.
For fuck’s sake, THIS ^ It’s not the same people, I can locate “The United States of America” on the map just fine, and I expect you to be able to locate my country on the map, not one of its 41 counties. The maps above are ridiculous.
